1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using BuildingCalc, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and ourPrivacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to both you individually and that organization.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through a prominent notice on our website. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

2. Description of Service

BuildingCalc provides free, web-based construction calculator tools designed for contractors, builders, architects, and DIY enthusiasts. Our current suite includes 41 specialized calculators:

The Service also includes the ability to generate PDF quotations and Excel spreadsheets from calculator results, with export labels available in 13 languages. The Service is provided free of charge and does not require user registration or account creation.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice. We will not be liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

3. Use License and Permitted Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use BuildingCalc for personal, educational, and commercial purposes. This license includes the right to:

• Use all calculators for personal and commercial construction projects
• Generate PDF quotations and Excel spreadsheets for client and internal use
• Share calculation results through email or other communication channels
• Reference BuildingCalc results in project proposals and bids

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its content
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software or code underlying the Service
• Use automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or other automated tools to access or interact with the Service in a manner that overloads, abuses, or circumvents the Service, beyond normal search-engine indexing and good-faith interoperability (search engines may crawl and index public pages; abusive automated traffic remains prohibited)
• Use the Service to develop a competing product or service
• Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
• Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other user accounts, or any computer systems or networks connected to the Service

4. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that the results obtained from the use of the Service will be accurate, reliable, or complete, or that any errors in the Service will be corrected.

The calculations provided by BuildingCalc are estimates based on industry-standard formulas and general construction practices. Actual material requirements, costs, and specifications may vary based on site conditions, local building codes, material variations, and other factors. You are solely responsible for verifying all calculations and consulting with qualified professionals before making purchasing decisions or commencing construction work.

5. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BUILDINGCALC, ITS OWNER-OPERATOR, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

• Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service;
• Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service;
• Any content obtained from the Service;
• Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content;
• Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in any calculation results.

In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100.00) or the equivalent amount in your local currency. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

6. Accuracy and Reliability of Calculations

BuildingCalc's calculators are designed to provide helpful estimates for construction projects based on commonly used industry formulas. However, we make no representations or warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any calculation results provided by the Service.

Construction projects are subject to numerous variables that cannot be fully accounted for in any calculator, including but not limited to:

• Regional building code variations and local regulatory requirements
• Material manufacturer specifications and product variations
• Site-specific conditions such as soil type, terrain, and weather
• Waste factors that vary by material, technique, and installer skill level
• Market price fluctuations for materials and labor
• Currency exchange rate variations for international users

All results should be considered preliminary estimates and should be verified by qualified construction professionals before any materials are ordered or work is commenced. We strongly recommend obtaining multiple professional opinions for any significant construction project.

The cost estimation features of BuildingCalc use default material and labor pricing that may not reflect current market rates in your area. You are responsible for entering accurate local pricing to obtain meaningful cost estimates. BuildingCalc shall not be held responsible for any financial losses resulting from reliance on cost estimates generated by the Service.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless BuildingCalc, its owners, operators, affiliates, licensors, and service providers from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees) arising from your use of or access to the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right, including any copyright, trademark, property, or privacy right. This indemnification obligation shall survive these Terms and your use of the Service.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, functionality, design, text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, video clips, data compilations, and software are owned by BuildingCalc and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

The BuildingCalc name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of BuildingCalc or its affiliates. You may not use such marks without our prior written permission.

You retain ownership of any data, measurements, or project information you enter into the calculators. By using the Service, you grant us no rights to your input data. We claim no ownership over the content of PDF quotations or Excel spreadsheets generated through the Service.

9. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue the Service, or any part thereof, at our sole discretion and without prior notice. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Adding new calculators or removing existing ones
• Changing calculation formulas, default values, or output formats
• Modifying the PDF or Excel export functionality
• Updating the user interface, design, or layout
• Adding or removing language support
• Changing the availability of the Service in any region

We will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service. We may also impose limits on certain features and services or restrict your access to parts or all of the Service without notice or liability.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of BuildingCalc is domiciled, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. The Service is operated by its independent owner-operator, contactable for legal matters atlegal@buildingcalc.net. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If a resolution cannot be reached through negotiation, any legal proceedings shall be brought exclusively in the courts of competent jurisdiction where the operator is domiciled.

If you are located in the European Union, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms shall deprive you of the protection afforded by mandatory provisions of consumer protection law in your country of residence.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, legal, and enforceable while preserving its original intent.

12. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with ourPrivacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and BuildingCalc regarding the use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter of these Terms. Any failure by BuildingCalc to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

13. Copyright and Takedown Notices

All content on the Service, including text, calculators, graphics, and software, is the property of the operator of BuildingCalc and is protected by applicable copyright laws. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice containing (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) identification of the infringing material with URLs, (c) your contact information, and (d) a good-faith statement with your signature tolegal@buildingcalc.net. We respond to valid notices within 2 business days and remove or disable infringing material as appropriate.
